PRETTY IN PEACH

Our vintage peach Harlow set is back in stock, I’ve added a few rather useful website updates, and I have the most beautiful (and sexiest) new London shop to share with you…
Darling ,
Our much-loved Harlow set in vintage peach satin and powermesh has just been replenished. To celebrate, I couldn’t resist revisiting this gorgeous shoot from a few years ago with Grace Jaques, the soft peach tones and sculpted 1950s silhouettes still feel as magical as ever.
The collection features our signature Bullet Bra with its iconic conical shape, the classic 6-strap suspender belt, and flattering high-waist knickers; all designed to capture true mid-century glamour while remaining comfortable and wearable today.
The vintage peach shade also pairs beautifully with the rest of our peach pieces, from demi corsets and corselettes to Merry Widows and girdles, for a perfectly coordinated look.

WEBSITE UPDATES

Behind the scenes, I’ve added estimated delivery times directly onto product pages, along with a dedicated tracking page, so you can follow your parcel without hopping between Royal Mail or FedEx.
I’ll admit I’ve become slightly obsessed with the tracking app… though Charlie in mail order is always one step ahead of me!

IN OTHER NEWS

An image added to the post.
I visited the Light House just before Christmas and can honestly say it’s the most beautiful — and quite possibly the sexiest — shop in London. This multi-storey jewel box in the heart of Soho is curated by Joe Corre (son of Vivienne Westwood and co-founder of Agent Provocateur).
Inside you’ll find hats by Hood of London and A Child of Jago, latex by Atsuko Kudo and Torture Garden, and exquisite corsetry from The Model Traitor as well as vintage Vivienne Westwood: an irresistible destination if you’re in the area.
The article I spotted about it (in The Times - click above image) does alas sit behind a paywall, though they’re currently offering a three-month trial for just £1 per month if you’re tempted.
An exhibition: 'Vivienne Westwood: An Active Life', runs at Light House from Thursday February 19th January, 2026 until 19 March, 2026.

RED SEAMS FOREVER

Our champagne stockings with their signature lipstick red seam deliver timeless vintage drama: bold, confident, and designed to turn heads on any day of the year. 💋
Darling ,
Valentine’s is here, and while it may be too late for a last-minute delivery, we’re fully in the mood for romance with our champagne stockings and their striking lipstick red seam. At What Katie Did, stockings aren’t just for special occasions: with the right underpinnings, they’re comfortable and secure enough to wear every day.
An image added to the post.
So what’s the story?
Our Lipstick Red Seamed Stockings were the first colourful seams we introduced over 20 years ago, and they’ve been turning heads ever since. A sheer champagne leg paired with a bold red seam creates instant retro drama: perfect with florals, all-black, or classic nautical styling. Made in Italy from soft 15 denier nylon with a touch of stretch, they’re as comfortable as they are iconic.
An image added to the post.
Worn here with our peach corselette, you’ll enjoy smooth shaping beneath even the slinkiest gown. With its traditional front fastening, firm waist tape, powermesh body and satin tummy panel, it offers vintage-inspired control without boning or discomfort. Six metal suspender clips keep your stockings perfectly in place, just as they would have in the 1950s.

With Spring on the horizon, perhaps it’s time to swap dependable black for something a little lighter — and a lot more fun. 💕

GIRDLES IN THE SPOTLIGHT

With Wuthering Heights landing this week, a familiar silhouette is back in focus: the girdle, worn not beneath the look, but as the look.
Darling ,
Last week’s Wuthering Heights press tour gave us a fashion moment we couldn’t ignore. For a London photocall, Margot Robbie stepped out in a complete John Galliano Spring 1992 look, including a girdle worn unapologetically as a skirt, styled with stockings.
An image added to the post.
Galliano has long been fascinated by lingerie as outerwear, and this early-90s ensemble clearly foreshadows his later work at Dior, where girdles, corsetry and foundationwear were repeatedly brought to the surface and treated as fashion in their own right. It’s a bold, deliberate way of dressing, and one that feels very relevant right now.
An image added to the post.
The images featured here are from one of our own shoots from many years ago with Missy Malone, originally inspired by Galliano’s later Dior-era styling. Long before this press moment, we paired our Glamour Open Bottom Girdle and fully fashioned stockings with a vintage jacket, exploring that same idea of structure, sensuality and lingerie stepping out of the shadows.
An image added to the post.
All of this ties neatly into the conversation around the new Wuthering Heights adaptation, directed by Emerald Fennell (Saltburn) with costumes by Jacqueline Durran (Little Women, Atonement: yes, that green dress). The film, released later this week on 13 February, leans heavily into 1950s-inspired styling; strong waists, sculpted silhouettes and couture references; and has already sparked plenty of discussion for its dramatic, stylised approach.
An image added to the post.

GET THE LOOK

Our Glamour Open Bottom Girdle is key to achieving that classic 1950s shape. Designed to sit firmly on the waist, it offers medium control to smooth the tummy, hips and derriere, creating a clean line under fitted dresses or skirts: or worn boldly as part of the outfit. Made from flexible powermesh with a satin front panel and six sturdy metal suspenders, it keeps your stockings perfectly in place while delivering authentic vintage glamour.

Sometimes fashion history, film and lingerie all line up at once. This feels like one of those moments.

A DARKER SILHOUETTE

You may recognise the Demi Waspie from our recent Bridgerton newsletter, but for Spring 2026 we’ve restyled this long-time favourite in classic black, photographed for our Stolen Heart lookbook with a far darker mood.
Darling ,
After sharing a little behind-the-scenes glimpse into Bridgerton earlier this week; and the role our Demi Waspie Corset played beneath the gowns; it felt like the perfect moment to bring the spotlight back to this much-loved piece.
The Demi Waspie isn’t new. We’ve been making it for several years now, and it’s firmly earned its place as a customer favourite. Comfortable, flattering, and endlessly wearable, it’s one of those designs we know inside out; and one we return to again and again. When something works this well, we don’t redesign it. Instead, we explore new ways to style it.
That’s where our Spring 2026 Stolen Heart lookbook comes in.
An image added to the post.
For this season, we’ve styled the Demi Waspie in classic black, photographed with a very different mood in mind. The imagery is inspired by Bizarre, the cult 1950s fetish magazine: a world away from Regency ballrooms, yet still deeply rooted in vintage glamour. Graphic, provocative, and unapologetically stylised, it’s a reminder that corsetry has always existed somewhere between fashion, fantasy, and confidence.
The corset itself remains unchanged, for good reason. Designed as a stretch underbust waspie, it combines traditional steel boning with flexible powermesh to sculpt the waist while allowing you to move comfortably through the day. A satin centre panel adds a subtle flash of glamour, while the double elastic waist tape gently enhances the natural hourglass shape without the rigidity of full corsetry.
An image added to the post.
With adjustable back lacing and a surprisingly soft feel, the Demi Waspie works just as beautifully beneath clothing as it does styled on show. In black, it takes on a sharper, more dramatic edge: equally at home layered over a blouse, or worn discreetly under dresses for smooth, confident shaping.
Our regular reshoots are about offering fresh inspiration, showing how the same trusted pieces can shift in mood and meaning. From Bridgerton’s romantic underpinnings to Stolen Heart’s darker, more playful aesthetic, the Demi Waspie proves just how versatile great corsetry can be.
And if you’re already devoted to the Demi? Keep your eyes peeled. Its popularity has earned it not two, but three new styles arriving later this spring.
Same corset. New attitude. 🖤

A BIZARRE LIFE

An image added to the post.
The imagery in our Stolen Heart lookbook was inspired by Bizarre, a fetish magazine published in the 1940s and 1950s that became hugely influential for its stylised, suggestive approach to glamour. The magazine was reprinted by Taschen in the mid-1990s, but that two-volume set is now long out of print and increasingly hard to find. More recently, there’s been renewed interest in its creator, John Willie, with the release of A Bizarre Life: a biography I actually bought for my husband as a Valentine’s present last year.

WEEKEND BOUDOIR GLAMOUR

Valentine’s calls for something effortless and indulgent — from our lace kimonos to our softly draped kaftans, now on sale. Plus, a peek behind the scenes and a quick vote on which cosy loungewear fabric you’d love us to make next.
Darling ,
With Valentine’s Day falling on a Saturday this year, there’s no rushing out the door or squeezing romance into a lunch break. Instead, there’s time. Time for a slow morning, coffee in bed, and something beautiful to wrap yourself (or your partner) in before the day even begins.
Our vintage inspired loungewear was made for moments like this. Effortlessly glamorous, wonderfully comfortable, and just as suited to treating yourself as it is to gifting someone special.
An image added to the post.
Choose from our lace kimonos in classic black or vintage peach, available in both full-length and short styles depending on how dramatic you’re feeling. The long black lace kimono is pure boudoir theatre, with wide sleeves, rich satin trim and a fluid, ankle-grazing silhouette that feels utterly indulgent. The short lace kimono offers the same Old Hollywood glamour in a more playful, easy-to-wear length; perfect for lounging, layering, or answering the door with aplomb.
An image added to the post.
If you prefer something softer and more relaxed, our georgette kaftan wrap is a dream. Inspired by 1960s screen sirens, it drapes effortlessly with a loose, unfitted shape and a satin tie belt to gently define the waist. Available in black or vintage peach, it’s light, floaty, and ideal for unhurried mornings. They're now half price as we say goodbye to this much-loved style: once they're gone, they really are gone.

Whether you’re planning breakfast in bed, a lazy morning together, or simply want something beautiful and comfortable to spend the day in, these are pieces designed to make staying in feel special.

IN OTHER NEWS

While you’re thinking about what to wear next weekend, my brain is already firmly in next winter. Fashion does that to you.
I’ve recently been painstakingly unpicking one of my own vintage robes to take a pattern from it. It’s a wonderfully heavy, full-skirted, floor-length piece that I’ve worn to death – truthfully, it wasn’t really wearable when I bought it, but the shape and fabric were too lovely to resist. I’m planning to make myself a cosy version this weekend, but it got me thinking… if we were to make a robe like this for What Katie Did, what would you want it made from?
My instinct is cosy velour. I practically live in it during winter (I’m typing this wrapped up in my much-loved navy velour dress by Joanie - how I'll miss that brand), but I also know there’s a growing backlash against synthetic fabrics. So I’d love your thoughts. Cast your vote below:

A CORSETED CONFIDENCE

From Regency gowns to modern silhouettes, discover the unseen shapewear and subtle details laced beneath Bridgerton’s romance.
Dearest Gentle Reader,
You may have noticed that over the weekend, Netflix unveiled Part One of Bridgerton Season 4, tantalisingly titled An Offer From a Gentleman. As society buzzes with anticipation, we find ourselves fondly casting our minds back to Season 3; when our own modest contribution was quietly laced into the world of Regency romance.
During the filming of Season 3, we were honoured to be asked to supply shapewear staples for the leading lady herself, the utterly captivating Nicola Coughlan. Her corseted wardrobe included our Merry Widow, our traditional steel-boned Overbust Corset, and our Demi Waspie Corset: each crafted in a delicate shade of peach.
An image added to the post.
While these pieces may not be visible on screen (corsetry, after all, is a discreet art), it is unmistakable that structured underpinnings and cinchers are working their magic beneath those exquisite Regency gowns. The true beauty of costume often lies in what remains unseen.
One particularly charming behind-the-scenes detail: Nicola so adored our Demi Waspie Corset that she later personally requested to wear it during filming for The Faraway Tree, in which she appears as Silky; set to be released later this spring.
An image added to the post.
What fascinates us most is the costume department’s thoughtful selection of three very different styles of corsetry. From our traditional steel-boned Overbust, to the Hollywood Golden Age-inspired Merry Widow, and finally our more modern, innovative Demi Waspie Corset, it’s clear they were keen to explore both silhouette and comfort: allowing the actress to move, perform, and breathe with ease.
Our Demi Waspie Corset truly combines the best of both worlds: the shaping power of steel boning paired with the gentle flexibility of powermesh. Designed to define the waist without the rigidity of a full corset, it creates a smooth, flattering silhouette that enhances the natural figure. A satin centre panel adds a whisper of glamour, while the double-layer powermesh body offers comfort worthy of even the longest day on set.
An image added to the post.
Moving on from Season 3, the brand new Season 4 takes inspiration from a Cinderella-esque tale, introducing the mysterious leading lady Sophie, who in true fairy-tale fashion, leaves behind a single white glove at a masked ball. While we didn’t supply gloves for the production, we do offer our own white cotton, opera-length gloves, as well as a more discreet champagne-toned alternative. Both are perfectly suited to capturing the Bridgerton aesthetic, whether for a grand soirée or a touch of everyday romance.
After all, confidence; much like good corsetry; begins beneath the surface.

NEW GLOVES: STOLEN HEART

Blush, claret, and classic black gloves join Stolen Heart as our first new pieces of 2026. If you enjoy the stories behind how things are made, I’ve included a link to a Substack article about the glove factory where these styles are produced.
Darling ,
Our Stolen Heart collection has two new pieces joining it this week: long sheer gloves in the lightest blush pink and a deep, dramatic claret. They’re pictured here with a couple of new dresses arriving next month — a little preview of what’s to come.
Until now, Stolen Heart has focused on continuity styles available year-round. These gloves are our very first new releases of 2026… and they’re only the beginning.
An image added to the post.
Soft, romantic, and impossibly pretty, our long blush gloves are a delicate finishing touch with timeless appeal. Made from lingerie-grade powermesh, they have a beautifully sheer appearance with gentle stretch, creating a graceful line from fingertip to upper arm.
The blush-pale pink shade is subtle rather than sugary: a barely-there wash of colour that feels classic, flattering, and endlessly versatile. Perfect with bridal looks, spring dresses, pastel lingerie, or vintage eveningwear. Wear them smooth for true opera-length elegance or softly ruched for a relaxed, romantic feel.
An image added to the post.
Rich, moody, and undeniably glamorous, our sheer claret gloves bring instant vintage drama. The deep claret shade is striking enough for eveningwear yet soft enough to complement winter florals, velvets, and festive styling.
Designed for comfort and elegance, they can be worn smoothed all the way up for classic opera-length sophistication or ruched at the wrist for a softer, Old Hollywood feel: a beautifully dramatic finishing touch.
An image added to the post.
If you love your glamour with a darker edge, our Black Lace Elbow-Length Cocktail Gloves deliver instant vintage polish. Crafted from luxurious, heavy-weight floral lace, they’re perfect for cooler weather and classic cocktail styling.
Designed to sit just below the elbow, they can be worn at full length for a refined look or gently ruched down for a bracelet-length, mid-century feel. Ideal for winter soirées, vintage-inspired outfits, or elevating an everyday ensemble: proof that black never fails to make an entrance.

If you’d like to go a little deeper, last year I wrote a Substack article about tracking down a traditional glove factory in Somerset: the very same workshop that now makes these gloves.
It’s a rare survivor of British glove-making, with over 150 years of history behind it, and the article takes you behind the scenes of how I found them and why preserving skills like this matters so much to us. You can read it over on Substack if you enjoy peeking behind the seams.

SEAMS AND SCANDAL

From a rediscovered Tatler editorial to the sumptuous costumes of Outrageous, this week’s newsletter connects Mitford glamour past and present; with a familiar latte seam quietly tying it all together.
Darling ,
Some stories refuse to stay neatly in the past; they resurface, overlap, and suddenly feel timely all over again. The Mitfords are exactly that kind of story, weaving together fashion, politics, and culture in ways that still feel strangely modern.
An image added to the post.

A rediscovered Tatler moment

While sorting through saved images on my phone recently, I stumbled across a Tatler issue from last year that I’d clearly filed away for a reason. The cover stars Bessie Carter, photographed ahead of her turn as Nancy Mitford in Outrageous: and the images are every bit as striking now as they were then.
Inside, Tatler explores Bessie’s connection to Nancy, her immersion in the role, and why the Mitfords continue to fascinate. It’s a reminder that good photography, and good storytelling, doesn’t date.

A familiar seam in Tatler

Elsewhere in that same issue is a separate fashion editorial, and it stopped me mid-scroll for a very different reason: our latte seamed stockings appear in the shoot.
An image added to the post.
Whether the editorial was quietly influenced by the Mitford revival or simply drawing from the same 1930s-inflected elegance, the pairing feels completely natural. Our Champagne stockings with latte seams were designed to echo vintage daywear; refined, flattering, and historically grounded; which is exactly why they’ve long been favourites with costume designers and stylists.
Seeing them styled in Tatler, even a few months on, felt like a small but satisfying confirmation of why these stockings continue to resonate.

Outrageous: beauty with bite

That rediscovered magazine moment sent me straight back to Outrageous, the six-part drama charting the lives of the Mitford sisters in the 1920s and 1930s. I finally binge-watched it just before Christmas: late to the party, as it originally aired on BritBox and has only recently arrived on BBC iPlayer.
An image added to the post.
Costumes play a huge role, and the designer is Claire Collins, who we’ve worked with previously on Father Brown and Sister Boniface Mysteries. While we don’t know if anything of ours appeared on screen, the wardrobes are a masterclass in expressive, story-led dressing.
The series is visually sumptuous and beautifully cast (Bessie Carter is outstanding), but it also carries real weight. A gentle heads-up: the Mitfords’ deeply divisive politics are central to the story, and some dark themes sit beneath the glamour; handled with nuance, but worth knowing before you watch.
Also available on Britbox, Amazon Prime and Apple TV

The book behind the drama

An image added to the post.
The series is based on The Mitford Girls by Mary S Lovell: a richly researched, highly readable biography that gives each sister depth and context without judgement. If Outrageous leaves you wanting to dig deeper (and it almost certainly will), the book is a perfect next step.

DIOR & THE POINT HEEL

Today we’re exploring the history of point heel fully fashioned stockings and their couture link to Christian Dior. Over on Substack, there’s a new article continuing the theme with Madonna, vintage lingerie, and Lady Marlene.
Darling ,
I’ve been told I’m not allowed to write about tariffs and duties, so instead I’ve been happily distracted by the history of point heel – or French heel – fully fashioned stockings.
I’ve long said that Christian Dior helped make the point heel famous, choosing it to complement his elegant post-war gowns. That part still stands. But a little deeper research revealed a lesser-known detail: Dior stockings were always made under licence.
Dior’s General Manager, Jacques Rouët, was notably ahead of his time. Faced with high US customs duties that made it difficult for Paris couturiers to profit from American clients, he embraced licensing accessories such as hosiery and supported Dior’s decision to open boutiques on New York’s Fifth Avenue – making Dior one of the first French houses to do so.
An image added to the post.
Although information is scarce, we do know that Dior hosiery was produced in multiple countries, including the USA, with at least one factory in Reading, Pennsylvania. A pleasing coincidence, given that our own HQ is in Reading, Berkshire (UK).
This is where the story connects directly to fully fashioned stockings today. Fully fashioned stockings are knitted on Reading machines – named after Reading, PA, where the machines themselves were manufactured. These remarkable machines later travelled across the Atlantic, and today the few surviving examples are found only in the UK and France.
While it’s very unlikely that the vintage machines used to make our fully fashioned stockings were ever commissioned to produce hosiery under the Dior name, we do know they once made Aristoc stockings. What is certain is that they still create stockings in exactly the same way they did in the 1950s: slowly, skilfully, and with unmistakable results.
An image added to the post.
Point Heel Fully Fashioned Stockings
Our Point Heel Fully Fashioned Stockings capture the height of 1950s sophistication. Defined by a sleek back seam and elegant pointed heel, they were a couture favourite and remain a timeless choice for vintage lovers today. The sharply tapered heel creates a longer, leaner line, subtly transforming the look of the leg.
Knitted on original 1950s Reading machines, each pair is made to the same exacting standards as they were over half a century ago – for true vintage authenticity you can see and feel.

STOLEN HEART

Our first lookbook of 2026 has landed. This newsletter introduces Stolen Heart — a celebration of timeless black lingerie, classic pieces that never date, and a first look at how they’ve been styled for the year ahead. Inside you’ll find highlights from the new lookbook, familiar favourites worn in fresh ways, plus a quick update on our decision to step away from X and where to find us instead
Darling ,
Black never goes out of style. It never dates, never clashes, and quietly pulls everything together. It’s also the backbone of so many wardrobes, which is why this lookbook is designed to tempt you into adding one new piece that works effortlessly with what you already own.
Our classic lingerie ranges are made year in, year out, using the same fabrics and trims. That means you can refresh your collection without splurging on an entirely new set – a new suspender here, a different corset there – all designed to slot seamlessly into place.
An image added to the post.
You’ve already seen glimpses of this shoot over the past couple of weeks, featuring model Miriam Veil (who wore our Liz lingerie in last week’s newsletter), but now the full Stolen Heart lookbook – at least the first chapter – is live.
For now, it focuses on our Classic ranges: timeless black pieces with a flash of red, plus that peach corselette that Madonna wore just before Christmas. (I’m hoping to dive into Madonna’s long-standing love of vintage-inspired lingerie in this week’s Substack, if time allows.)
An image added to the post.
Miriam gives familiar favourites a fresh energy, wearing our Demi Waspie Corset, Glamour Longline Girdle, and the newer 20 Denier Allure Black RHT Stockings. If you look very closely at the bra paired with our fully fashioned stockings – yes, it is new, and yes, it is coming soon. I’ll share more nearer its release.
As always, every piece has been shot on video as well as stills, so you can see exactly how everything fits and moves. No AI trickery here – just real bodies, real garments, and real craftsmanship.
And if you’re wondering what’s next: the rest of the collection will be arriving over the coming weeks… and things are about to get a little brighter.
